Common questions

Questions people ask

Where do programs meet?

At the Santa Monica Bahá'í Center on Colorado Avenue, and in homes and parks around the area. When you reach out, we'll let you know what's happening nearest you.

Do I need to prepare anything?

No. Every program is designed so you can walk in knowing nothing — no reading, no homework, no background required. Just show up.

Do I have to be Bahá'í to take part?

No. Most people who come are not Bahá'í. Every program is open to everyone, regardless of background or belief. There's no membership and no expectation that you'll join anything.

Are the programs really free?

Yes. There's no charge for any class or gathering, and no collection. Bahá'í community activities are supported entirely by voluntary contributions from Bahá'ís.

Can my whole family take part?

Yes — there are programs for every age, from young children to teens to adults. Many families take part across several at once.

How often do they meet?

Most meet weekly; some prayer gatherings are every other week. When you get in touch, we'll share the current schedule for gatherings near you.

What if I come once and it's not for me?

That's completely fine. There's no commitment and no pressure — you're welcome whenever you'd like to come.
