Quick Facts
A few good questions
What's the Bahá'í Faith?
One of the newest and fastest-growing world religions — an emerging global faith of social and spiritual transformation.
What do you do?
Our mission is to unite the earth into one human family, far beyond all the politics and prejudices. We want to build a happy and just community — one neighborhood at a time.
Why should I care?
We want to be of service to you. We offer everything from children's activities to discussions on the questions that matter today to simple prayer gatherings where all are welcome. We believe religion should bring people together, not divide them — so we worship alongside folks of every faith. Let us know how we can help make Santa Monica a more wonderful place, together.
So there's a community here in Santa Monica?
There is — currently about 250 of us, meeting in our beautiful (and solar-powered!) Center on Colorado Avenue. Come by, or send us a message to say hi.
Can you sum up your beliefs in three sentences?
We believe there's one God, who progressively reveals one religion over time. On a social level, the work of this age is to unite an often-fractious world. On a spiritual level, we see the whole universe as a mirror reflecting God — so we try to honor that reflection and make it clearer in ourselves.

From the Bahá'í Writings
On the oneness of humanity
Bahá'ís hold that prejudice of every kind is a grave barrier to peace. A few passages from the Writings:
O children of men! Know ye not why We created you all from the same dust? That no one should exalt himself over the other. … It is incumbent on you to be even as one soul, to walk with the same feet, eat with the same mouth and dwell in the same land.
Bahá'u'lláh — The Hidden Words
Racism, one of the most baneful and persistent evils, is a major barrier to peace. … Recognition of the oneness of mankind … must be universally upheld if this problem is to be overcome.
The Universal House of Justice — The Promise of World Peace
Freedom from racial prejudice, in any of its forms, should … be adopted as the watchword of the entire body of the American believers … consistently demonstrated in every phase of their activity and life.
